1414 Crowborough Squadron
1414 (Crowborough) Squadron is proud to serve young people from Crowborough and the surrounding villages and communities nestled on the edge of the beautiful Ashdown Forest. Drawing cadets from areas including Rotherfield, Mayfield, Hartfield, Groombridge, Withyham, Wadhurst and beyond, the Squadron provides local opportunities for adventure, personal development and service.
Situated in one of Sussex's most vibrant rural communities, 1414 Squadron reflects the area's strong tradition of volunteering, community spirit and support for the Armed Forces. We are committed to ensuring that young people from across our catchment area can access the life-changing experiences offered by the RAF Air Cadets, helping them to develop skills, confidence and ambitions that will benefit them throughout their lives.
The Squadron has its own building on the entrance road to Crowborough Camp, but for the time being it is operating from other facilities in the town.
For many years, 1414 (Crowborough) Squadron has developed a reputation for providing outstanding opportunities for young people and achieving success at local, regional and national levels. Our cadets regularly represent the Squadron and Sussex Wing in sport, leadership, shooting, aviation, first aid and Duke of Edinburgh's Award activities, consistently demonstrating commitment, teamwork and a determination to excel.
Beyond competitions and qualifications, our greatest achievement is the impact we have on the young people who pass through our doors. Former cadets have gone on to careers in the Armed Forces, emergency services, aviation, engineering and many other professions, taking with them the confidence, skills and values developed during their time at 1414 Squadron. We are immensely proud of every cadet who wears our badge and of the dedicated volunteers whose enthusiasm and support enable them to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
